About My Money Week
Developed in response to the growing need to prepare children for their
financial future, My Money Week aims to provide a nationwide focus on financial
capability for young people in primary and secondary schools throughout England,
offering schools a flexible framework of options and resources to inspire
students and teachers to get to grips with the practicalities of personal
finance education. The Week brings schools and their local communities together
to learn more about managing money in a practical and relevant way.
The first My Money Week took place in 2009 and gave teachers access to a wide
suite of free resources for primary and secondary schools help you to integrate
personal finance activities across the curriculum from PSHE and maths to drama.
In 2010 the Week returned even bigger and better, with a host of resources,
tools and activities, which are still available online. These include a pupil
area containing hints and tips, polls and advice from our NCB Young Advisers
and money guru Jasmine Birtles and a case study by Tinchy Stryder, My Money
Celebrity Ambassador 2010.
In 2011 the Week took place from 27 June to 3 July. It focused on the
theme of ‘My Money, My Future’. As well as Activity Packs with all new content,
the central challenge of My Money Week 2011 was the National Competition for
schools, challenging pupils to design the currency of the future in response to
the question My Money, My Future: What will money look like in 2040? The
competition was supported by specially created lesson plans and allowed for a
very wide range of original responses and learning opportunities in PSHE and Art
& Design, as well as building on other My Money Week classroom activities.
Hundreds of events up and down the country have taken place in the run up to,
during and after the previous My Money Weeks. Working with schools, local
authorities and other organisations, pfeg
consultants have helped bring personal finance education to life.
