Information for local authorities
My Money is the first project to help local authorities to provide joined-up cross-curricular financial education for children and young people aged from 4 to 19.
The programme has been designed to help local authority staff to fulfil the requirements of Every Child Matters, support priorities in their Children and Young People’s Plan, and help young people at school learn to deal with the financial challenges and opportunities they may face during their school life and beyond.
What’s on offer for local authorities?
Free consultancy
Nine My Money consultants have been appointed to enhance pfeg’s existing regional teams. They work with local authorities at no cost in each government region, also providing free resources to all schools.
As each local authority has different needs, the My Money consultants tailor their support to authorities’ individual requirements. They help local authority staff to build strategic plans for financial capability and better support and champion personal finance education in their schools. In turn, schools receive free materials, support and training.
All of the consultants have an educational background, an understanding of school and local authority contexts and experience of the practical delivery of programmes like My Money.
To access a My Money consultant contact pfeg on 020 7330 9740.
Local Authority Briefing Pack
Local authorities have access to a FREE My Money Local Authority Briefing Pack which helps local authority staff concerned with the economic wellbeing of children, young people and families to identify where the promotion of financial capability can support their work.
The pack introduces the My Money programme, describes its purpose and scope and how it can contribute to existing national, local and school priorities.
