Year 9 pupils at Saxon Mount School in East Sussex are going to devise a simple business plan to sell flowers/plants/herbs to make a profit for the school. An assembly is also planned for year 10 pupils to perform the play from the secondary Activity Pack and to present Year 9's work.

The FinCAP couldn’t be easier to use:

  • It’s linked to the PSHE education part of the National Curriculum, specifically the programme of study for Economic Wellbeing of which Financial Capability is a part.
  • It is aimed at key stages 3 and 4 and consists of a number of questions and activities designed to assess skills, knowledge and attitudes across key concepts of this strand.

How it works

To get started simply follow the instructions below:

  1. Download the teachers’ guidance notes PDF
  2. Set up an account for your pupils so you can monitor their scores.
  3. Ask your pupils to play the FinCAP activity in which they follow an interactive story split into five separate chapters and answer a series of knowledge, skills and attitudes questions relating to the action as it unfolds.

We can help you to plan effective personal finance education lessons. Visit the pfeg site for resources and advice.

Once you have taught a series of planned personal finance lessons, pupils then sit the FinCAP activity again to assess learning and improvement.
